Q & A: Do You Even Know Alysia Rissling?!

Q: What were your first thoughts going down the track for the first time?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I went down with a brand new pilot my first run and I think we hit every single way but it was soooo fun.

Q: I understand you play a lot of different sports in your spare time. Besides just being active, how does this help with your Bobsleigh career?

My athleticism is what helped me win a World Cup medal in just 5 seasons. I have a lifetime of hand-eye coordination, understanding of how I can push my body, and how to be a good teammate while under pressure situations.

Q: Youre very active on Instagram, and I understand youre focused on building up your following and your brand. Who is your target audience for followers, and what kind of messages do you like to convey to them?

I just like to show my personality on instagram and I think people are fascinated by my wide range of interests and expressions. You’ll see me grinding out at the track, moving big weight in the gym, but also being a goofball cheering hard for my favourite teams or playing with my dog or slicing my drive on the links.

Q: To all your young female fans, if you could convey one message what would it be?

Try as many sports as you can because you’ll never know, you may just fall in love with one and want to pursuit it at a high level. When you do you can’t imagine the friends you’ll make, opportunities that will arise, or the places you will travel. It’s an exciting era to be a female athlete. If you would have told me when I was 14 that I would be in my 30s and still being a competitor I would have laughed in your face!

Q: What is your favourite pre-race pump-up song?

I have a new one every few months but right now it’s Astronaut in the Ocean- Masked Wolf

Q: If you could choose your dream dinner guest (dead or alive), who would it be?

Tom Brady. I have SO MANY questions about sustained peak performance practices/ways of life, and would looooove to hear a couple stories that involve Julian Edelman and my boy Gronk.

Q: Where is your favourite bobsleigh track to compete?

St. Moritz- Switzerland. It’s the only track that is made naturally out of ice and snow every year!

Q: If you could only eat one ethnicity of cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s a no-brainer. Who wouldn’t choose Italian?! Pizza, pasta, cheese, wine, gelato. Ok I’m hungry.

Q: If you could compete in one other Olympic sport, what would it be?

Hockey. Hockey will forever be the sport I regret not playing.

Q: What is your favourite chocolate bar?

Do mini eggs count?! Because my obsession is real.
